Augé never wanted to become a teacher. “I was too rebellious a student,” he says. But studying in California changed his idea of what a teacher’s job can be. He says he now loves his job and the idea of a university as well as the variety of students he encounters.

AAU professor Étienne François Augé believes an instructor should be more than just a lecturer in the classroom.

A prolific author of books and essays, he wants “to bring university to a more general audience” through his writing.

In his latest book, L’Illusion Culturelle: Hollywood et la Propaganda: 1990–2000, Augé explores the connection between Hollywood and propaganda for more than 600 pages but reaches no definite conclusion.

Anglo-American University was the only Czech University to send a delegation to the 57th Harvard Model United Nations Conference in Boston in February.

How much will AAU have to change its academic standards to better suit those CEA requires?

Anglo-American University’s students can look forward to seeing more exchange students from the U.S due to a special global partnership agreement Anglo-American University has in place with the Arizona-based CEA study abroad program.

AAU’s full-time students have yet to find out what this really means for their academic future, but the influx is not always welcome by locals, it seems.

The US presidential elections are not just of interest to Americans: Czech students have some surprising perspectives and views on the process. US students at Anglo American University are, like many thousands in the United States, mobilizing for the election.
Breanne Toney, a CEA study abroad student at AAU, used the website votefromabroad.org to register for her absentee ballot. "I thought that the website was very accessible... it was really a one-stop shop for all the information you need."

If you cannot live without text messaging, and your thumbs have actually hurt, then you are what the company Mozeo would call "textually active." This company, a new energetic startup based in Syracuse, New York, has fused the worlds of chat, blogs, and text messaging. Bringing them together has created an entirely new level of group communication.

'Can I get a medium... I mean grande?'
The usual terms small, medium, and large, long in use in Prague coffee shops, are being replaced with the Starbucks lingo of tall, grande, and venti. So what is it about Starbucks that makes it so intriguing? Is it the coffee aroma? The relaxed atmosphere? Everything seems to be a factor in making Starbucks what it has become today.

The legal drinking age of 21 in the United States is hard for many students to abide. At around age 16, you can learn to drive; at 18 you can vote, buy cigarettes, pornography or lottery tickets and be sent to war. Not until you are 21 can you legally drink alcohol.
Which may explain why so many drink to excess when studying abroad.
