"DernisáΕΎ"is the closing reception of the photo exhibit THE ROMA by Lukáš Houdek, a part of a larger collection INvisibles (NEviditelní). The exhibition started at |art|SPACE, the art gallery of Anglo-American University, on May, 6 as part of Transeuropa, for the first time taking place in Prague as a part of the multi-national both cultural festival and political event. This time unlike the opening the visitors have a chance to talk to the artist himself.

Almost 200 CEA students enrolled into Anglo-American University this spring. With a normal student size 500, the mixing of students from different cultures within such small class sizes can be a challenge.

Mason Truluck unknowingly began to take advantage of her study abroad experience on the first day of class. She missed the day when her class divided up groups for presentations, leaving her to be a part of a multicultural group. She accepted the challenge. “This group project forces me to step outside of my comfort zone,” Truluck said.

After a night of drinking at the Mecca club, Block’s roommate threw himself against window, which gave way, leaving a four-inch gash on his arm and wrist. A cab was quickly hailed and took the pair to the nearest hospital.

On her fourth day in Prague Kelly Mytinger, an international student who came to study at Anglo-American University without the assistance of a program provider, found herself with an ear and sinus infection.

As she struggled to communicate this information to the receptionist at Fakultni Thomayerova Hospital in February, Mytinger took in her surroundings. Dingy. Sketchy. Doubts of whether she was at a credible hospital ran through her congested head as she stood confused at the counter of what her research told her was an English-speaking institution.

When he was "just a kid" he would take baths with "two nice black twin sisters from next door." He says that it was nothing since they were all so young but that there was "racial harmony in the bathtub."

A man some students meet at least once a week is not just a teacher but a well-travelled person of many experiences and occupations.

Robert Ellmann teaches wide range of subjects in which he shares with the pupils his wealth of knowledge and outlook on philosophy. Sitting in the cafeteria, looking through papers for his next lecture, Ellmann started to answer questions at first a little nervously, not knowing what was coming, but quickly he became relaxed and forthcoming.

"I understand and I support [a Thanksgiving feast/celebration]," Krautstengl said, "but it should be organized by the students" and should includes everyone. He added that he is all for "promoting relations between cultures."

The New Anglo-American College in Prague does not officially observe the holidays of non-Czech students by allowing them days off from school. This includes all English and American holidays, even though the college is named after these countries. This is particularly upsetting to some as Thanksgiving, a major secular, American holiday, rapidly approaches, leaving students stuck in class, wishing for a home cooked holiday delight.

By around 3:30pm the Skinheads started gathering at the Charles University Law Faculty. In all there were twenty, the rest were Anti-Fascist demonstrators. More and more Anti-fascists started gathering, and then the police started showing up. The police came with armored trucks with crowd control panels welded to the front. The crowds were growing thicker, and then suddenly everyone rushed to the side of the faculty building. A man had taken a trashcan and started to bash a student's face with one of the narrow metal trashcans outside the building. After the attack the student disappeared as well as the attacker. A square foot sized puddle of blood was on the ground. About three feet away was the dented trashcan. On the wall, between the blood and trash can hung a plaque dedicated to victims of the Nazi occupation that were thrown over the nearby bridge May 5, 1945 as a result of the Prague Uprising only four days before the regime fell.

Behind the basic "guy meets girl and gets murdered" story line lies a deeper level of "loneliness, sexuality, and the unknown, coming to the edge of it," Delbos said. The film is about "leaving your comfort zones and the dangers that it brings," he said.

Being a quarter Czech, King said that "Czechs themselves think that they are not good enough." However, his presentation offered definite proof against this.

The US presidential elections are not just of interest to Americans: Czech students have some surprising perspectives and views on the process. Most say they would prefer a Barack Obama presidency to one with John McCain, but only half of them would welcome a U.S. style direct vote in the Czech Republic.

US students at Anglo American University are, like many thousands in the United States, mobilizing for the election.
Breanne Toney, a CEA study abroad student at AAU, used the website votefromabroad.org to register for her absentee ballot. "I thought that the website was very accessible... it was really a one-stop shop for all the information you need."

"I like being connected to the school," says Lazarov to alumni officer Borka Ljeskovic in an interview on YouTube. He names John H. Carey, the founder of the School of Law, as his strongest influence. Carey stimulated students to think, not just to learn by heart what is written, he says.

From the first grade kids in school are always told by their parents to study hard and get good grades; not so much to be smart but to set their first steps into their future.
