Say a 17-year-old Czech student goes to a club with a bunch of his friends one Friday night. Though the drinking age is 18 here, the student walks in, makes a comment to the bouncer, the two share a smile and he and his buddies are in.

Now imagine this with a 17-year-old American testing his luck at a bar in the heart of New York. The bouncer takes one look, spots the fake ID, rips it in half and hands it back. So it will go for the next four years.

The New Anglo-American College in Prague does not officially observe the holidays of non-Czech students by allowing them days off from school. This includes all English and American holidays, even though the college is named after these countries. This is particularly upsetting to some as Thanksgiving, a major secular, American holiday, rapidly approaches, leaving students stuck in class, wishing for a home cooked holiday delight.

Two AAU students, Caroline Johnson, a senior at University of North Carolina-Wilmington and Sarah Kreifus, a senior at University of Wisconsin, love the abroad life. "I have had no difficulties adjusting", says Johnson. "I love the independence and freedom that I have here. I feel more mature from this and honestly wish that everyone I know from back home could have this same amazing experience.

Located just before the Charles Bridge is a small building that most people walk by without noticing. Even though Anglo American University does not stand out in the crowd, it stands out to its students.
