Get the party started

University party welcomes (back) students to spring semester
Welcome back party

The new semester has started at Anglo-American University, bringing along with it a new batch of students and cold weather.  AAU's Student Council and NYU decided to warm up the semester with a well advertised welcome back party taking place in the nook of Charles Bridge, Lavka Bar and Club.

As with most parties, there are a few unsaid protocols that students and most locals tend to follow.  One being, no one shows up early.  The AAU Welcome (back) party was no exception to this, but the stagnant flow of students continued well on into the night.  When the clock struck twelve, many students wanted to leave and go to another place to find what Lavka was lacking, more excitement.

Alas, thirty minutes later, the party welcomed a mob of students eagerly ready to get the party started.  The atmosphere shifted as students realized the club was filling up. Even after the mass of more people, the party still lacked a certain air of celebration.

The expectations of the welcome back party were high, as students rang in the fall semester in Radost FX bar last December.  The last event was a hit as many students wanted to celebrate their last party together before taking off for the winter break.  A few students even commented that “the last party was awesome, what happened with tonight’s?”

A few answers were thrown out there, among them being that either too many students went home for the weekend or the party was held on a bad day.   The occasional flu bug seemed to be doing its rounds as well this week, causing many to party with a night of Coldrex and tissues.

Although the welcome back party was not found to be a total success, the students that did stumble their way in seemed to be enjoying themselves.  If the flow of the music and people on the black light dance floor were not to your liking, one could always seek solace in the constant trips to one of the three bars.  We can only hope that the next event does not leave people wanting to sit on a lavka (bench) all night.
